Roy Prosser Dies Sunday in Illonois
Chief Master Sgt.Roy W. Prosser,43,husband of Mrs. Adele Nall Prosser of 1811Sunset Ave., died early Sunday morning at the Scott Air Force Base in Bellville, Illonois following a four month illness.
The body is to be conveyed to Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home here where services are to be conducted. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Madison where Military services will be conducted at the grave.
A native of Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Roy W. Prosser and Artie Kate Thompson Prosser Batts. He was reared in Columbia and attended Maury County schools, Columbia Military Academy and Morgan Prepatory School.
He entered into the Air Force on June 28, 1941 and served throughout the Pacific Area during World War II and the Korean War. He had been awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Roy Wilkins Prosser III, and William Micheal Prosser, both of Columbia; a half sister, Mrs. Joe Shelton of Arizona, and five half brothers; Jack Batts in the U.S.Air Force in Paris, France, and Gordon Batts and Billy Batts, both of Columbia and Barkstle Batts in the U.S.Air Force in Turkey and Leland Clark Batts of Alabama.
