Milton Houston was a pioneer and moved to Oregon in 1864. He ran a sorghum mill with his son, served as road supervisor in 1885 and was the third postmaster of Beagle, taking office on 14 July 1887. He held the office for over 22 years. Milton and his wife, Polly, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on 17 May 1904.
