Matilde Ortiz Morin, 85 of San Antonio, Texas

On November 27, 2008 the Lord opened His arms and took Matilde (Tillie) Ortiz Morin into His heavenly home.

There she joins her husband of 56 years, Steve J. Morin.

Our mother's faith in God never wavered and she was prepared to meet her maker. Born in San Antonio on April 22, 1923 she is also preceded in death by her sister Maria Romo, and two sisters-in-law, Carolina Enriquez and Virginia Ontiveros.

While our father served his country during WWII, she also helped with the war effort by taking a job at Fort Sam Houston. She often talked about her duties as "Rosie the Riveter" and was proud to be able to serve her country. She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Cursillos organization and taught CCD at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.

She was a devoted mother to Judy Morin (E. Baker), Martha Alonzo (Henry), Alice Solis (Albert Klaus), and Stephen A. Morin (Lupe).

She leaves six grandchildren who adored her: Michael Saucedo (Caroline), Carolyn S. Sherron (Bryan), James Saucedo, Stephen A. Morin Jr., Kristi Morin (and their mother Aida Ramos) and Priscilla Morin.

Her children and grandchildren will pass on her memory to her six great grandchildren: Devan, Patric, Kassandra, Leeandra, Matthew, and Isabella,

and her two "old lady sitters" (as she called them), Iliana and Andres Contreras.

She also leaves to cherish her memory Francisco and Rosa Garcia, two nephews, six nieces, and a host of friends.

Our mother was a very selfless person and we thank God we were blessed with such an angel. Mom you and Dad will always live in our hearts.

The family would like to acknowledge
Maria Imelda Gonzalez
for her faithful caring of our mother.

We would like to acknowledge the staff and all her companions at Centro D! el Barrio Center. We would like to offer a very special thank you to the kind and caring staff at Christus VNA Hospice. Dr. Charles Cervantes and staff have been instrumental, knowledgeable and very caring throughout this journey.

Services and visitation were held at
Alamo Funeral Chapel on
Sunday, November 30,
from 5:00 - 9:00 PM with a
Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. A
