Nov. 2, 1924-Feb 6, 1983 is the son of James Lacey Wood 1903-1965 and Leona Irene Sheehan Wood 1900-1989 of the Kankakee/Irwin/Fisher Illinois Area. Joe and Mary Jackson were married and had two children, Gary Lee Wood and Deborah Kay Gramlisch-Carey (Wood) a step-son Jerry Wayne Hampton Sr. and several grandchildren all living in Southeast Missouri area.
Dad was Retired Navy.(Sept 1942-July 1973). World War II Victory Medal, Asistic-Pacific (3 Stars), American Area, European African, Philippine Liberation (2 Stars), Good Conduct Medal.

People often react strongly to that vividly different enviroment with its striking patterns of light and darkness. It's bitter winters and giddily bright soft summers. Sleep comes slowly on the sunlit nights. The winters are burdensome and depressing, restrictive of both outer and inner movement. One must be physically and also mentially tuned to live in The Far North
