Clifford L. Jones, 64, Monmouth, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, doing what he loved deer hunting in Big River State Forest.

MONMOUTH — Clifford L. Jones, 64, Monmouth, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, doing what he loved deer hunting in Big River State Forest.

He was born April 7, 1944 in Monmouth, where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Willis
“Buck” and Ellen Johnson Jones. He married Beverly Miller on April 10, 1983. She survives.
He was in the Army for three years as a combat engineer stationed in Germany. He worked for Wells Pet Food Factory for 13 years and also worked for Felt Industry for two years; later he was at Maytag for 16 years until they closed. He worked the past two years at Dick Blick. He was a member of Young’s Lake and a former member of Maple City CB Club. He loved camping, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed “Crash” Craddock concerts and most of all deer hunting.

In addition to his wife Beverly, Monmouth, he is survived by his mother Ellen Jones, Monmouth; five sons, Gary Jones, Knoxville; Tony Jones, Wapello, Iowa; Michael Jones, Monmouth; Gregory Jones, Monmouth; and William Jones, Monmouth; two daughters, Lori Dawkins, Huntersville, N.C.; and Tara Jones Cope of Florida; three step daughters, Cindy Gray, Monmouth; Antonia Allen, Swan Creek and Ruth Guajardo, Burlington, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister Nancy Lovett, Monmouth.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, one granddaughter, and one step daughter.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at Corman Memorial Home Roseville. Burial will be in the Point Pleasant Cemetery, Roseville. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Corman Memorial Home Roseville. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Corman Memorial Home Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
