The community was shocked Tuesday by the announcement that Mrs. Max Ackert had passed away. She was ill a few days since but had improved. But pneumonia developed and in her weakened condition she was unable to withstand the disease. Mrs. Ackert was unfortunate in some ways. She lost both of her parents when she was quite small, and that is a hardship upon any child. Still she grew to womanhood and was possessed of a sunny dispositon, always seemed happy and made many friends.
Florence Ackert, nee Galisbfe, was born 10-25-1900 in Wayne City, Illinois. When at the age of five years she lost both of her parents and for a number of years made her home with her aunt. In 1914, she came to this city and made her home with Dr. H. M. Wakelin and family. She also accompanied them to Los Angeles, Californian in 1919, and continuted to reside with them. On February 3, 1920, she was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Max Ackert and to them was born one daughter, Darling Ruth. On 2-3-1925, after a brief illness, she passed away at her home near Melvin, at the agge of 24 years, 3 months and 9 days. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband, one daughter, grandfather, two sisters, her mother-in-law and many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held from the German M. E. Church in this city on Thursday; Rev. H. Stahmer, the pastor officiating. Burial was in the Melvin Cemetery. Those froma distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Guy E.
