Old Settler Gone
John R. Shields age 77 years, died at his family home in Adams Township yesterday afternoon at 5:30. the funeral will be held Friday morning at 11-0, clock. The Internment will take place in the Wellman Cemetery.
Mr. Shields came to Iowa in 1847 and was one of the oldest pioneer residents of Wapello County. He followed farming as an occupation and was highly respected by all who knew him.
