Ferdinand Young, Jr. was the son of Ferdinand and Evelyn Young. Little Ferdie (as he was known) was sick for most of his young life. He had asthma and suffered greatly. He caught a terrible cold in November 1956 and with his weakened lungs, quickly developed pnuemonia. He died at the age of three, while his mother was in the hospital giving birth to his younger brother, Steve.

I never knew Little Ferdie, but his sweet face is unforgettable. Everyone remembers him as a very sweet child. I know that his parents were greatly affected by his death. My aunt would still cry whenever his name was mentioned many years after his death.

After his death, his parents placed the following poem in the newspaper for Christmas.

Angels round the heavenly throne
saw a playmate of their own
Gently they opened the gates above
and took you home to share their love
To gain sweet heaven and its joys
you left behind your little toys
With all the glitter and the parts
and we were left with broken hearts
that nothing on this earth can mend
until our earthly life should end.

A thank you to Caroline and Carol P. for providing me with the birthdate for little Ferdie.

A very special thank you to Sharon M~May God Bless and Keep You for sponsoring Little Ferdie's site. Sharon is proof that angels truly walk among us. Thank you, my friend...your kindness is appreciated more than you will ever know.
