British general and historian. In 1807 he took part in the expedition against Copenhagen and was present at the siege, and served under Sir Arthur Wellesley in the attack on the Danish army, where he took part in the battle of Koege. He also served in the Peninsular War as well as in France, Spain and Portugal where he was fatally injured. After he recovered, he planned to rejoin his regiment at the continent heading to Dover on 18 June 1815, the same day as the Battle of Waterloo which ended the French Wars.
He was a British soldier in the British Army and a military historian.
