Based on the 1870 Census it appears that the Metcalf's (Mary & Henry) took in several borders, in 1870 they had at least 7 not counting Mary's younger sister Veronica who appears to have lived with her sister from the time of Mary's marriage until Veronica's death in 1924. The 1900 Census shows Mary had given birth to 12 children with only six still serviving by that time.
It appears that Mary shares a headstone with her son-in-law William P. Hund, he was married to Mary's daughter Genevieve. Additionally the year of death on Mary is incorrect per the death certificate she died in 1931. Mary's husband, Hartley, is buried in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
