Services for Verdigris native Wayne Charles Dorsey will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday November 27, 2007 at Verdigris Assembly of God. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Bea, who passed away March 28th of this year. Friends may visit at Rice Funeral Service from 10-8 on Monday. Wayne passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007. He was 86.
On August 16, 1921, Wayne was born into the large and loving family of Albert and Stella Dorsey. After his school years, Wayne began working alongside his brothers. As a young man he entered the Air Force, serving during WWII. After receiving an honorable discharge, Wayne made his home in New York. On November 24, 1945 he married Beatrice Caron and began a career as a machinist with Gleason Works. After more than 30 years he retired and returned to Oklahoma, Where he spent his days taking care of his beloved Bea. Those activities that occupied his spare time through the years were hunting, fishing and golf.
Wayne is survived by his siblings, Rev. Buford and Dorothy Dorsey, Albert "Chick" and Ellen Dorsey, and Wanda Dalton, all of Verdigris; Rev. Don and Norma Dorsey and Bill and Laverne Dorsey of Claremore; Ima Butler and Wesley of Wichita, and sister-in-law, June Dorsey, Verdigris. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, Bea, and brother Jody, and sister Rema Scott.
