Margaret Blankenship - JOHNSON CITY
Mrs. Margaret Blankenship, age 93, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.

Mrs. Blankenship was a native of Greene County and daughter of the late Rufus & Elizabeth "Bessie" Moore Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blankenship was also preceded in death by her husband, Jake Frank Blankenship, two sisters, Trixie Haney and Ruby Tipton and four brothers, Fred Smith, Horace Smith, Ralph Smith and Dennis Smith.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Blankenship retired from Tennessee Plastics Inc. and had worked for Boyd Needle Co. in Chicago and Seaver's Bakery.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Earl & Carolyn Blankenship, Johnson City, Jay & Carolyn Blankenship, Telford, Bill & Jan Blankenship, Johnson City; daughters and sons-in-law, Bessie Turner, Dublin, GA, Shirley Hayes, Elizabethton, Carolyn Keys, Jonesborough, Lydia Crestsinger, Johnson City, Betty & Gary Onks, Jonesborough and Wanda & Dennis Presley, Gray; seventeen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Matson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mickey Onks, Lee Keys, Ricky Keys, Lynn Keys, Steve Day, David Day and Jeff Hays. Honorary pallbearers will be Erin Presley, Chris Turner and Dennis Turner.

The family would like to send special thanks to the nurses and staff of 3300 floor of the Johnson City Medical Center.
