Son of John William and Martha Laura Strother Wilder. Served with the C.C.C. at Pollock, LA. He went by his middle name. Sent after the bombing of Pearl Harbor to repair the warships. Married Joyce Faye Bass at Jonesville, Catahoula Parish October 20, 1949. They were the parents of Patricia "Pat" or "Patty", Sandra, Sherry, Lloyd Grady, JR. "Junior" and Gary Chris.

I never got to know him. I was an infant when he died of a heart attack and wrecked his car. He was a good provider for his family and was a member of several civic and social clubs: The Masons and Shriners to name a few.

Jena Man Killed In Crash On La. Hwy. 8 Wednesday

Lloyd Grady Wilder, 49, of Jena, was killed last Wednesday morning when his pickup truck left the highway and crashed into a tree. The accident happened on State Route 8 just south of Jena.
Wilder, an employe [sic] of the State Revenue Department in Alexandria, was enroute to work when the truck ran off the new section of Highway 8 and hit the tree.
An autopsy on Wilder's body revealed that he had suffered brain damage in the accident and this was the most likely cause of death.
State Police Sgt. Larry Robertson, who investigated the accident, said he could not determine when Wilder lost control of his vehicle and left the highway. No mechanical problems which would have caused him to lose control of the vehicle was found.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church with the Revs. Eldred Blakely and Mickey Bounds, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena.
Wilder was a past grand high priest of the Royal Arch Masons, a shriner of the El Karbah Temple and a member of Michael Dempsey Lodge No. 327 F&AM.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joyce Bass Wilder of Jena; one son, Lloyd Grady Wilder Jr. of Jena; three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Peppers of Monroe, Sandra and Sherry Wilder, both of Jena; two brothers, Leonard Wilder of Springfield and John Wilder of Slidell and one grandchild.
