Mrs. Carson was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Robert Christian & Lydia Bushong Diehl. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carson was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Deakins Carson; a brother, John Richard Diehl Sr.; and a sister, Eula Janette Diehl Squibb.
She was an active member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church, CYB Club and Open Door Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Carson was a graduate of Jonesborough High School and ETSU Teachers College. She was a retired teacher and member of Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. She taught at Jonesborough Elementary for forty-two years and worked at Proffitt's for eight years.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Diann Carson, Knoxville; two grandsons, Matthew Carson and Tim Carson, both of Knoxville; one sister,Virginia "Ginny" Maden, Jonesborough; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Jonesborough United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Scott officiating. Interment services will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pat Maden, Brian Maden, Kent Maden, Chris Diehl, Kyle Carson and Eddie Skeen. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
