A funeral service for Sereta Salsman, 74, of Roswell, will be held at 10 am Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Cecil Kimberlin officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Sereta passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.
Sereta was born January 14, 1934 to Learleen and Carroll Croxton in New Castle, Kentucky. She came to Roswell with her family at 14 years and within 2 years time she found her calling, the love of her life, Kenneth Salsman. They made the perfect connection as one and were married August 26, 1950. Sereta was a highly devoted wife and mother. She started work at Mitchelle Drug from 1949 – 1954 then did the bookkeeping for Salsman Masonry. In 1967 she started with the Roswell Independent School District cafeteria until retirement.

Sereta is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Bates and her husband, Mort of Roswell and Pam Lemons and her husband, Jack of Conchas Dam; five grandchildren, Scott, Chris, Brian Crotzer and his wife, Kim; Chris and his fiancé Carly of Denver, Co; Sarah and Brandon Estes, Kenneth Joe Bates, of Roswell and four great grandchildren.

Sereta was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Salsman, her mother, one brother and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Brian Crotzer, Kenneth Joe Bates, Brandon Estes, Jack Salsman Jr. and Jeff Salsman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Lemons, Mort Bates, Scott Crotzer, Don Bunce, Vernon "Buster" Kirkpatrick and Ed Janssen.
