Ira L. Waller, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. John Elser, chaplain of Thomas E. Creek V.A. Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mar. Waller was born July 17, 1928, in Hollis, Okla., to Lavesta and Abner Waller. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force serving during World War II.

He had been a salesman at J.C. Penney Co., and had enjoyed working for TWA Airlines as a mechanic. He coached Kids Inc. and Y-Baseball.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Waller; and a son, Mark Waller.

Survivors include a son, Steven Waller and wife Becky of Fort Worth; a granddaughter, Lacy Waller of Austin; a grandson, Ross Waller and wife Jenelle of Atlanta; two sisters, his twin, Arlene Adams of Concordia, Kan., and Geneva Profitt of Lakeview; and a brother, L.C. Waller of Eldorado, Okla.

The family suggests memorials be to Thomas E. Creek V.A. Medical Center Nursing Home, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
