Chester Paul Davis of Douglass, former member of the Butler County Junior College board of regents, died at a Winfield hospital, Wednesday, December 2, 1964. He had been in poor health for quite some time.

Mr. Davis was born in Sumner county near Argonia on August 20, 1889. He graduated from Argonia High School, Southwestern College and Columbia University. He was superintendent of schools in several towns in Kansas and Oklahoma.

He married Gladys Hill of Mulvane on August 9, 1916. She died August 25, 1955. On April 21, 1958, he married Miss Maude Haver of Douglass, and had resided here since that time.

At one time Mr. Davis was an accountant with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Douglass Methodist Church, the Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 202, Masonic Lodge #151, Wichita Ivy League Chapter O.E.S., Midian Temple and the Consistory.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Douglass Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Eckel, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Mulvane Cemetery, with Hilyard Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth (Henry) Breckberg of Kodiak, Alaska, a son Marlen of Sacramento, CA; three brothers, Car of Chicago, Gerald of Englewood, CO, and Forrest of Argonia; a sister, Miss Eula Davis of Sedgwick; and nine grandchildren. A son, Paul Jr. preceded him in death in 1962.
