Matthew Cole Soper, 22, Quenemo, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008. He was born in Lawrence, Kan., on May 15, 1986, to Joe and Marcy (Miller) Soper.

Matt was a member of the Pomona Pioneers 4-H Club for 12 years. He graduated from Pomona High School in 2004. His activities included football and powerlifting, lettering all four years. His senior year he was selected for the all-area first team defense as a linebacker.

Matt received his ag/diesel mechanics degree from Hutchinson Community College. He was continuing his education at Kansas State University majoring in ag business.

His home was in Quenemo, Kan., but he was living in Manhattan while attending school. Matt worked for many years at Judd Ranch, Pomona, Kan. He also had worked for Wal-Mart Distribution and Flory Excavating, Pomona, Kan. He was currently employed by Harder Farms, Haven, Kan.

He leaves behind his parents; a sister, Jessica Soper, Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Austin Soper, and his wife, Amanda, Baldwin City, Kan.; nephews, Michael Eads and Aiden Soper; a niece, Paige Soper; and grandparents, Jim and Marilyn Eichinger, Dixie Soper, Melvin Miller and Darlene Randel.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Bob Soper; and a cousin, Codi Soper.

Matt enjoyed riding four-wheelers and motorcycles, weightlifting and spending time with his many friends and family members.
