Mrs. Margaret S. Culley.

Mrs. Margaret May Scheirich Culley, wife of Dr. Paul Culley of French Camp, died Monday at the Attala Nursing Center following an illness of about five years. She was 87.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the French Camp Presbyterian Church with burial in the French Camp Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Sam Patterson and the Rev. Richard Cannon officiated.

Mrs. Culley, a Bible teacher and nurse, moved to French Camp in 1979. Her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Newman, are members of the faculty at French Camp Academy. She was a graduate of the registered nurse program at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Oh. and studied with Missionary Training Institute at Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y. and graduated from Wheaton College. She had served as superintendent of nurses at Louisville Methodist Hospital in Louisville, Ky. and as dean of women at Nyack College.

She was a former missionary to China, the Philippines, and New Guinea and served two seasons in Mexico with Wycliff Bible Translators. In 1947 she moved to Columbia SC. with Dr. Culley to inaugurate the Graduate School of Missions at Columbia Bible College and also taught practical nursing.

Following retirement she lived in Asheville, N. C. and at the Christian Missionary Alliance Retirement Home in DeLand, Fl. She and Dr. Culley moved to French Camp in 1979.

While living in Wheaton, Ill. and Columbia, S. C, Dr. and Mrs. Culley were instrumental in founding Christian day schools.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Anna Ruth Culley of Atlanta, Ga. and Mrs. Ralph (Margie) Newman of French Camp; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers were Bill Adams, Stuart Angle, John Cockrell, Hugh Long, Ken Utley and Lewis Ward.
