Kevin R. "Whit" Whitfield, 50, Altoona, died Monday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Altoona, son of Donald and Iris (Ake) Whitfield. He married Brenda Riley Feb. 23, 1985. Surviving are his wife, Brenda; Kevin took pride in his two daughters, Kayla and Emma, and their achievements; and survived by his father, Don of Altoona; and a brother, Don Whitfield II of Woodbridge, Va. He was a member of Field of Harvest Fellowship Church, where he served as an usher and occasional handyman. Kevin was employed by Dominion Peoples. He was a 1976 graduate of Altoona Area High School. Kevin enjoyed his pets, hunting, fishing, watching Penn State football and gardening with his wife. He especially loved his pastor's hunting camp, where he could go to hunt, hang out or enjoy church picnics with his family. Kevin was a hard worker and good provider for his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Axe & Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, by Pastor Hud Crossman. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
