Dallas "Pete" Ora McWilliams, 57, Fargo, N.D., formerly of Aitkin, passed away quietly at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo after a serious illness.

He was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Dallas and Phyllis (Hogan) McWilliams. He moved with his family to the Aitkin area where he attended schools graduating from the Aitkin High School in 1969. After his graduation he served in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge he became a long-haul over the road truck driver, enjoying the sites, towns and people he met in all of the continental U.S. and Canada. He married Paula Pozzi on Sept. 26, 1987, in Fargo, N.D. They traveled and enjoyed their lives together.

He is survived by his wife, Paula McWilliams, Fargo, N.D.; son, Carey, Fargo, N.D.; daughter, Jessie, North Dakota; grandchildren, Marcis and Maryann, both of North Dakota; his mother, Phyllis Sjodin, Elk River (formerly of Aitkin); brothers and their spouses, Gary and Barb McWilliams and Ron and Evonne McWilliams all of Conway, Ark.; Mike and Carol McWilliams, Aitkin; sisters, Linda Anderson, Maplewood; Annette Weimer, Elk River; Denise Kern, Blaine; several nieces and nephews; and his close friend Mike, of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas; and brother, Larry.

A memorial service will be held Sun., Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. from the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of rural Aitkin with the Rev. Cynthia Gray officiating. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in the spring. Military honors will be provided by the Aitkin VFW and American Legion Posts in the spring.
