Eli Bennett was born in an area of Virginia that later became W. Virginia on June 15, 1820. He moved to Ohio in the late 1830's and met and married Jemima Corrick on June 1, 1840 (Hocking Co., OH). Later they moved (about 1850) to Davis Co., Iowa. In the 1880 census the family was in Harrison Co., Mo. Then in 1883 they moved to White Co., Arkansas where they resided the rest of their lives. The couple had eight children as follows: Isaac, Lemuel, John W., William M., America Jane, Mary Elizabeth, James M., and Charlotta. Eli died 16 January 1902.
