Corporal Leon J. Abrams, from New Bedford, MA, served with the USMC during World War Two.

He was posted to Dog Company, 20th Marines, as a pioneer. Abrams saw action at the Marshall Islands, Saipan, and Tinian. When his regiment was disbanded, he was transferred to Able Company, 24th Marines, where he led a fire team in a rifle company.

Abrams was killed on Iwo Jima, February 25, 1945.
