Anna Ruth Brown, 83, passed away quietly on Dec. 11, 2008, in Aurora, Colo.

Born in Oberlin on June 5, 1925, to Fred and Gladys (Dowling) Miesner she was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Oberlin. She attended Oberlin schools and worked at the telephone company on weekends.

Upon graduation from Decatur Community High School in 1943, she joined the United States Cadet Nursing Corps. Anna Ruth received her RN from Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colo. She returned to Oberlin and worked at Benton Memorial Hospital and Decatur County Hospital.

On Oct. 9, 1948, she was united in marriage to Leslie T. Brown of Danbury, Neb.

She was a member of the Red Willow County Board of Health and the Beaver Valley School Board. Anna Ruth continued her career by providing nursing services to members of her community.

She loved life on the farm. Anna Ruth was an avid reader all her life and an artist in the kitchen. She was always available to help family, friends and neighbors when called upon and will be remembered for her loving service to her community.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Gladys Miesner, her husband, Leslie T. Brown and one brother, William "Bill" Miesner.

Survivors include her three sons, James and wife, Linley Brown of Holdrege, Thomas of McCook, Jack and wife, Kerry Brown of Danbury and her daughter, Sue and husband, Mike of Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren, Kellen Baird, Haven Brown, Shelby Brown, Austin Brown, Logan Brown, Sara (Brown) Mashek, Samantha Brown, Blair Brown; step-granddaughter, Wendy Cox; great-grandson, Noah Mashek; step-great-grandchildren, Brianna and Chance Cox.

She is also survived by her brother, James "Jim" and his wife, Ruth Miesner of Oberlin, one niece, three nephews and other relatives and many friends.
