Edgar S. Bellis, 88, of Sussex St., Shimer Manor, died last night in Warren Hospital where he was admitted Saturday.
Mr. Bellis was last employed as a guard at the Riegel Paper Corp., retiring 23 years ago. Before that he was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. and had been a deputy sheriff of Hunterdon County from 1924 to 1927.
Born in Jutland, N. J., he was the son of the late Mahlon and Amy Bell Dalrymple Bellis. He lived in Shimer Manor 6 1/2 years with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Bauder. Before that he lived in Phillipsburg and Pattenburg. His wife, Jennie Kimmenhour Bellis, died in 1966.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a son, Frank G., Milford, N. J.: two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday at the Rush Funeral Home, Bloomsbury. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, N. J.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at the Rush Funeral Home, 42 Church St., Bloomsbury on Thursday January 25 at 11 a.m. Interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, N.J. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad.
