The son of Samuel Rhydon Mays of Florida, and Amanda Cameron Houston of Florida. His parents are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. The husband of Mary Jane Roddy. He moved with his parents at a young age to Crowley, Tarrant County Texas ca 1884 and lived there and later in Fort Worth Texas for several years. After marriage he returned to Dallas County and lived near Lancaster Texas where he was a farmer and raised his family.
