Ruby Elmer Smith (1902-1976)
James served in the US Army during WWI. According to Carey Hand Funeral Home record he died at his residence in Winter Park on 21 Feb 1940 of apoplexy and his funeral service was held at graveside in Palm Cemetery on Feb 23 1940. Ten months later his wife, "Jane", died on 7 Dec 1940 and was buried next to him.
Their son, James Quincy, and his wife, Sevility Boatwright Smith, are buried a short distance from them, as is their daughter, "Mae" Smith English. Their son, Ruby Elmer, married Sevility's sister, Virgie Boatwright, his burial location is unknown (Virgie Boatwright Smith Williams is buried in Drawdy Rouse Cemetery, in Orange Co). A third Boatwright sister, Gemina "Nuna", married Argent Jane's half-brother's son Warren Levi Burkett, Sr. They (Gemina and Warren Levi) are also buried in Palm Cemetery.
