Mrs. Gay Bentley WUERPEL, 90, of 1518 N. 2nd, the last surviving granddaughter of Gen. Tom GREENE, died Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Ann Hospital following an illness of about six weeks.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kiker-Warren Chapel. The Rev. E. P. DENTZER, Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church minister, assisted by the Rev. Willis P. GERHART, will officiate.
Burial will be at Kiker-Warren Chapel in Masonic Cemetery under direction of Kiker-Warren Funeral Home.
She was born in Union City, Tenn. Dec. 9, 1874.
She was married to Ernest G. WUERPEL Dec. 25, 1897 in Abilene. The couple moved to Mexico in 1897 and returned to Abilene in 1933. Donations are requested in lieu of flowers to the Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. G. B. HOWARD of British Columbia, Canada; one brother, Hampstead BENTLEY of 1518 N. 2nd; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Max BENTLEY of 1705 S. 3rd; one grandson Peter HOWARD of Hampton, Ontario; six nieces and three nephews.
Pallbearers are Robert G. WHITE, Rick KEEBLE, Dick HAILEY, G. A. CRESSWELL, Henry TILLETT and Fleming JAMES.
