Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of February 10, 2006, Senior Chief Gerald Paul Dwyer, Sr., U.S. Navy (Retired), husband of Mary Weir Dwyer. Residence, Charleston, SC.

The relatives and friends of Senior Chief, U.S. Navy (Retired) and Mrs. Gerald Paul Dwyer, Sr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at ten o'clock. Rite of Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Tuesday between five and seven o'clock where a vigil service will be held at six o'clock.

Mr. Dwyer was born November 14, 1923 in Pittsfield, MA, the son of Francis Eugene Dwyer and Viola Young Dwyer.

He retired as a Senior Chief from the U.S. Navy and as a Commissary Manager at the Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Walla, WA.

He was one of eight children, five of whom served in the military during World War II.

He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1941, and held two Associate Degrees in Corrections and Counseling from Walla Walla Community College. He was a member of The Church of The Nativity, Fleet Reserve and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; one son: Dr. Gerald P. Dwyer, Jr. PhD. of Atlanta, GA; three daughters: Jeanne Berent of Raleigh, NC, Janet McEachern of Goodyear, AZ, and Joanne Dwyer-Willis of Round O, SC; one sister: Beryl Warren of Brooksville, FL; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
