BELLINGHAM- Anthony L. Tony Balliro, 78, of Venice, FL formerly of Boston and Bellingham, MA died December 7, 2008.
He was the husband of Iris (Scher) Balliro for 55 years.
He was born in Boston, MA son of the late Salvatore and Isabelle Balliro.
Mr. Balliro was a Korean War Army Veteran. He grew up in Jamaica Plain and had lived in Bellingham, MA for over 30 years where he was a volunteer Chief of the Bellingham Auxillary Police Department. He was a member of the Bellingham Lions Club. Tony enjoyed his retirement in Florida for the last 15 years, returning to New England every summer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Salvatore Balliro of North Smithfield, RI and Anthony Balliro Jr. of Millville, MA, 3 daughters: Michelle Maines of Moraga, CA; Lenore Balliro of Brookline, MA; and Trudi Balliro of Blackstone, MA; 1 brother: Vincent Balliro of North Carolina; 8 grand children and 4 great grandchildren.
Calling hours for Mr. Balliro will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM in the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 21 West St., Milford, MA.
Burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
