SAXON — Ernestine Agnes Aliff, 72, a resident of Cove Creek in Raleigh County and formerly of Oceana, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following routine surgery.

A daughter of the late Jethro Webb (1909-1984) and Ruby Agnes Milam-Webb (1907-2007), Ernestine was born in Posey/Saxon, Raleigh County, WV on Feb. 5, 1935. In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Webb (Deceased); a sister, Geraldine Webb-Vipperman (Deceased) and her husband Earl Vipperman (Deceased); a sister, Patty Webb-Naylor (Deceased) and her husband Ken Naylor (Deceased); and a niece, Earlene Vipperman (Deceased).

A retired U.S. Postal employee, Ernestine loved her country home, gardening, sewing, crafting, quilting, traveling abroad and caring for her beloved mother, Ruby, until her death in April. She loved visiting neighbors and friends old and new, but her love and dedication to her six children was her greatest joy.

Those left to cherish Ernestine's memory are her former husband and life-long friend, Johnny Alfred Aliff I (1926-2012) whom she married on June 6, 1953 in Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1953, Page 389, Application Date: June 2, 1953) of Oceana; her sister and dearest friend, Reta Webb-Clay and husband Doug Clay of Parma, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Shirley Webb of Beckley; daughters Cheryl Aliff-Tyree and husband Tom Tyree of Huntington, Karen Aliff-Boone and husband Rick Boone of Lexington, Ky., Joetta Aliff-Walker and husband David Walker of Oceana, and Robin Aliff-Trainor and companion Glen Zubris of Monroe, N.C.; two sons, Johnny Aliff II and companion Rhonda Aliff of Bluefield, Richard Aliff and wife Cara Aliff of Park Hills, Ky.; a half brother, Charles Cook of Toledo, Ohio; a niece, Floris June Milam of Beckley; and former daughters-in-law Vanessa Aliff and Karen Aliff of Bluefield.

Surviving grandchildren are Traci Tyree Agnew, Tanya Tyree Sergent, Kelli DeRamos Newton, Aimee DeRamos Pearsall, Rachel Boone, Jared Walker, Dustin Walker, Jordan Walker, Donnie Aliff, Trey Aliff, Scott Trainor, Chase Aliff and Aaron Aliff.

Surviving great-grandchildren are Chandler Aliff, Drake Aliff, Donivon Agnew, Kyleigh Sergant, Olivia Newton, Ben Newton Issak Walker, Kellen Walker and nine very special nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Ernestine's exemplary life will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home in Oceana with the Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
