Born in Spray, N.C., he moved to New Smyrna Beach from Knoxville, Tenn., in 1950. He was a retired field director for Linde Air Products Co., New York, and a former representative for the Flamingo Spring Water Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kannapolis, N.C. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors: wife, Mae; mother, Edna, Concord, N.C.; son, Norman L., Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Naveda L. Wilder, New Smyrna Beach; brothers, Edward Hartsell, Concord, Floyd Hartsell, Harrisburg, N.C., Bobby Hartsell, Kannapolis, Grover Hartsell, Baltimore; sister, Pauline Hilton, Kannapolis; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
