TROTTER, Richard Albert "Dick," 89, of Tampa, died December 23, 2008. Son of James E. and Louise (King) Trotter, he was born in Salem, Ohio, November 21, 1919, and grew up in a family of three boys and one girl. Dick moved to Florida as a young man and married Katherine A. Bojkovsky in 1939.

He was employed 31 years by the Tampa Fire Department, retiring in 1976 as captain of the Davis Island Fire Station, remaining active in the City of Tampa Retired Fire and Police Association. He is predeceased by his son, John E. Trotter, and survived by his wife, Katherine A. Trotter; daughter, Martha Waimsley Brown of Coral Springs, FL.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and best friend, Daisy. While missed, we gratefully remember his lifelong example of diligent work, love of gardening and faithful provision for his family.

A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The service will be conducted by retired District Chief Carl Gomillion, deacon at Idlewild Baptist Church. Following graveside services, a reception will take place at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, 5030 E. Busch Blvd., Tampa, 33617.
