Wayne served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Initiated an entered apprentice, passed to the degree of fellowcraft and raised to the sublime degree of master Mason on May 1, 1946, at Blue River Lodge No. 340, F&AM, Blue River; he was a member of Fort Winnebago Masonic Lodge No. 33, Portage. Wayne was also a member of the American Legion and the Portage United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, a daughter, two grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Memorial services were held at the Pflanz Mantely Mendrala Funeral Home, in Portage.
Military graveside services by Portage area veterans were held at Silver Lake Cemetery following the service.
