Gerald, of Linwood, New Jersey was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

The son of the late Albert R. and Nellie May Skibbe, he was a graduate of Drexel University class of 1936 with a degree in chemical engineering.

During his career, he worked for Continental Can Company for 42 years in their research and development division, where he was involved in the development of many of today's modern packing He was a member emeritus of the American Chemical Society and Institute of Food Technologists.

He was an avid swimmer and Co-Captain of the Norristown 1931 State champion swim team. For many years he was active with the Boy Scouts, the Episcopal Church, Ocean City Community Center, and Linwood senior citizens.

Preceded in death by his wife Florence, his brother Warren Skibbe; his sisters Edith Glass and Eleanor Skibbe; he was survived by his son Robert G. Skibbe; daughter Virginia L. Blouin and her husband Robert; three grandchildren, Lori Skibbe Bowles and her husband Ryan, Michael Blouin, Jennifer Blouin; great grandson Alexander Skibbe Bowles; and great granddaughter Elena Skibbe Bowles.
