Iver A. Thelin, 96, passed from this life on the 18th of December 2008 in Draper, Utah. He resided at 1001 East Lorraine Avenue (3420 South) in Millcreek Township, Utah at the time of his death.

He was born on February 17, 1912 in Stockholm, Sweden to Johan Anton and Anna Taxen Thelin. His parents joined the LDS Church and then gathered with the Saints to Salt Lake City where he lived his entire life. He married his sweetheart Elena Russell on August 28, 1934. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three children, Gary (Suzanne), Bluffdale, UT, Glen (Sandy), Colorado Springs, CO, Carolyn Whitehead (Jerry), Grant, ID. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church all his life serving well in whatever he was called to do. He attended Granite High School and was a member of the State Championship football team in 1930.

He enjoyed family trips and outings throughout his life and especially traveling with Elena after the children left home. His other interests included working in his yard and it was always a "showplace" as a result of his hard work. He was also a faithful and avid supporter of the "Utes". He was involved in the office machine business during his working years. His greatest love was his family and all the many members of his family loved him in return. He was a great example to us all.

He and Elena are blessed with 23 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his son Glen, a great-great-grandchild, his brothers Alvar and Arne. Two brothers Sigvard and Helmar both died in Sweden before the family left there.

Ike has lived alone in the same home since Elena died in 1993 up until the last few weeks when he simply started to wear down.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ridgedale Ward Chapel, 3400 South 1100 East.
