Larry James Ellis, 65, of Mason City, died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2005) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Larry was born Aug. 12, 1939, the son of Arthur W. and Thelma (Young) Ellis at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. He attended school in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School.
Larry was united in marriage to Caren Anderson on Sept. 3, 1961, at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Larry was a lifelong resident of Mason City. He was employed by Sedars Auto Body Shop as the shop manager for 37 years. Larry retired from Sedars in September of 1993.
Larry was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Larry loved antique autos, Pontiacs, especially his 1955 Star Chief convertible. He was a member of the North Iowa Vintage Auto Club and enjoyed sprint car racing.
He is survived by his wife, Caren, and their children, Mark Ellis and special friend, Gena Leduc, of Mason City, Michael Ellis and wife, Jacquelyn, of Marietta, Ga., Pamela Snyder and special friend, Johnny Allen, of Des Moines; one brother, Jerry Young of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Rosa Snyder of Des Moines, Aurora and Ashton Ellis of Marietta, Ga., and a very special pet dog, Buddy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Larry Young, and parents-in-law, Melvin and Mabel Anderson; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Kigar; brother-in-law, Ronald Wood, and sister-in-law, Muriel Anderson.
