She was born on June 3, 1920 in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Mary Elizabeth (Molly) and Lorenza Perry (Lo) Cummings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hubert Eldred Davis; his sister and husband, Ava Gertrude and Bill Tolar; brothers and wives, J.C. (Clark) and Opal Cummings, Boyd O. and Ethel Cummings and Buren and Tressa Cummings; sisters and husbands, Hallie and Ned Atkinson, Goldie and Ernest Surface, Madge and Bertram Young and Velma and Porter Teel.
She is survived by her devoted daughters and their husbands, Trena Bumgardner and Ralph of Charleston, Pam Staats and Frank of South Charleston, two grandsons, Chad and Tad Staats of South Charleston and one granddaughter, Beth VanBibber of Dunbar; one sister, Lorraine Hill and her late husband, Woodrow of Ashland, Kentucky, and many loving nieces, nephews and their families.
Juanita worked at The Diamond Department Store and O. J. Morrison's. She attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her love of life, her compassion for the ill and less fortunate and the love for her relatives, neighbors and others was her passion in life. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Her daughters would like to thank the staff at Meadowbrook Acres for all the tireless hours they spent taking excellent care of our mother over the past five years. Thanks to Dr. Lester Labus for being our mother's doctor and a great family friend.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 28, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
