Cookeville Graveside services for Robert Aldon Allison 86, of Cookeville, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Maxwell Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Allison died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born may 1, 1919, in Putnam County to the late George and Tennessee Crawford Allison.
Mr. Allison retired from McCord after 33 years of service as quality control inspector.
He served in the US Army in WWII. Mr. Allison was a POW held captive of the German Army for 12 months and 15 days and was released upon the war's end, receiving two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He attended Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Mr. Allison was a avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, camping and fishing.
His family includes two sons and a daughterinlaw, Ron and Elizabeth Allison, Greg Allison and Deborah Deming, all of Cookeville; a daughter and soninlaw, Dianne and Billy Hawkins of Smithville; four grandchildren and their spouse, Tracey Leigh and Brett Autry, Thomas George of Nashville, Holly Allison of Orlando, Fla., and Stepen Short of New York.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta League Allison; three brothers, Denver, Doyle and Dallas Allison; and three sisters, Velma Dunavin, Beulah Sullivan and Vallie Kilgore.
Pallbearers will be Brett Autry, Tom George, Billy Hawkins, Larry Farley, Paul Allison, Dave Allison and Steve Short.
The Rev. Robert Barton will officiate the services.
