Funeral services for Mrs. Leon May Gibbs Dunlap were held Thursday, 10:00a.m. at the First Christian Church. Rev. Keith McCaffety, associate pastor, Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church and Rev. John Driskell, pastor of First Christian, Trinity officiated at the services. Mrs. Dunlap was born at Spring, Texas, August 9, 1875. She and Mr. Dunlap married November 17, 1894 and moved to Kitrell where Mr. Dunlap was in the General Merchandise business. Kitell then had a post office, and Mrs. Dunlap was postmaster. They also owned a cotton gin.
Mr. Dunlap preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, J. C. Dunlap of Kitrell; two daughters, Mrs. Gayle Rogers of Palestine, and Mrs. Ioma Dunlap Walker of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Sturgis of Trinity and Mrs. Inez Reeves of Palestine;18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren. Interment was in Dunlap Cemetery.
