Born on October 11, 1919 in Tannersville, he was the son of the late William D.R. and Melissa (Transue) Edinger and had lived in Monroe County all of his life. He retired as a press operator at Cooper Industries.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy.
"Skinny" was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg; the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars, East Stroudsburg; the Loyal Order of Moose 1336, Stroud Township; the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1106, Stroudsburg; the George N. Kemp Post 346 American Legion, East Stroudsburg; and the CLU Club in East Stroudsburg. He was a life member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 577, Pocono, PA.
He is survived by a son, Alfred E. "Skip" Edinger, Jr. and his wife, Sandy of East Stroudsburg; two daughters, Lorraine Carson and her husband, Bill of The Villages, FL and Robin Campagna and her husband, Eric of Nicholson, PA; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Ross Edinger of Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Esther, Ethel, Erna and Berneta; and brothers, Earl, Floyd, Forest, John, Raymond and Albert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21, at 11:00AM in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with the Rev. Gail Kees officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
