In lot 54, there is a marked grave noted as "Mother Doran". I believe this is the final resting place of Nancy P. Thorne Rose Doran. She was born around 1852 in Arkansas, Missouri, or Mississippi. She had four children, 3 boys of whom survived to adulthood: William Francis Rose, Robert Burton Rose Lewis, and Neal W. Doran. One of her sons was adopted out. She spent most of her life in the Malvern area, often listed as a washerwoman. We believe that she died in Carson, Iowa, sometime between 1920 and 1930 at the home of her son, William Francis and was interred here in Malvern.

This woman was shrouded in mystery, with many tales being spread throuout the family. Some of these stories are true, some are definitely not true. We believe, and are very excited to find what we hope is the final resting place of this adventurous lady. If you have any information on her, my mother and I would love to hear from you.
