Mr. Anderson died Saturday morning in his home.
Dr. John Collins, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Rock Island, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 2 and 5 and 7 and 9 p.m.
MR. Anderson was born Jan. 18, 1922 in Rivoli Township Mercer County, the son of Carl and Bertha Bellinga Anderson.
He moved to Rock Island as a child and grew up in the city.
He married Mary Ann Hewitt on Nov. 29, 1939 in Davenport.
He was retired in 1971 from the Rock Island Fire Department, after working on the force for 20 years. Member of the Rock Island Fire Department from 26 Feb 1951 - 20 Aug 1971.
He also operated the Lee-Mac Pest Control Service.
He had been president for three terms of Local 530 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Mr. Anderson had been a charter member of the Rock Island Fire Fighters Relief and Welfare Association and had been active in fire prevention work, including trips into the schools to teach children about fire prevention. He attended numerous fire prevention schools.
Mr. Anderson was a U.S. Army veteran TEC4 who had served in World War II.
Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Alice Perry, Rock Island, and Mrs. Sharon Anderson, Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren; five brothers, Stanley Anderson, Moline; Carl Anderson, Milan; Robert Anderson, Milan; Joy Anderson, Chicago and Richard Anderson, Nebraska; and five sisters, Mrs. Martha Gallather, Alexis; Mrs. Ruth Slater, Viola; Mrs. Betty Kainhinsky, Rock Island; Mrs. Marie Pephee, Charlotte, North Carolina; and Mrs. Myrtle Robertson, California.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
