John Alfred Wilson was the son of William Alfred Wilson and Nancy Alice Rees.

John Wilson and Miss Minnie Sweet, of the Raleigh neighborhood, were married last Wednesday afternoon at the parsonage, by Rev. W. W. Sniff.
Four children: William, Layton A, Naomia and Howard.

He married Helen Elizabeth Melton on 27 Oct 1928 in Oberlin Kansas. They had one daughter, Lavon.
John came to Wyoming and installed carbide light plants. John and Helen moved to Oregon for a time and John worked in the logging industry. They returned to Gillette, Wyoming where he was on the WPA program and helped build the Gillette golf course. For many years he tended bar at the Stockman's Bar. He had a billy club behind the bar that, "took care of business". Each time the bar was sold, the previous owner would make sure John came along with the sale. Before his death Helen was taking care of him and he was in a hospital bed in the living room of their home.

Final Rites Held for J. A. Wilson
Funeral services for John Alfred Wilson, 84, were conducted from the chapel of the Noecker Funeral home on Wednesday, December 15, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Stanley Chitwood, pastor of the First Christian church in charge.
Wilson passed away at the Campbell County Memorial hospital on Sunday, December 12. He had been in ill health for a number of years.
Pallbearers were Clarence Carter, Ernest Reed, Francis Reed, William Underwood and C. H. Davis, all of Gillette, and Earl Hanslip of Big Horn. Interment was made at Mount Pisgah cemetery in Gillette.
John A. Wilson was born to William and Nancy Wilson on May 25, 1881 in Grant county, Indiana, and on October 27, 1928, he was united in marriage to Helen Melton at Oberlin, Kansas. One daughter was born to this union. He was employed by the Union Carbide and Carbon company for several years and after coming to Gillette to make his home, he worked as bar tender for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Gillette; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lavon) Eikenbary of Linch; two son, Layton of Sheridan and Howard of Kansas City, Missouri and one sister, two brothers, and five grandchildren.
Among those from out-of-town attending the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Melton of Douglas; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hanslip of Big Horn, and Mrs. and Mrs. Claude Irvin and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elkins of Sheridan.
