Leona F. Schley, age 91, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc,formerly of 1500 N. 3rd St., Manitowoc, died Sunday, December 27, 1998, at the center.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. (TODAY) Wednesday, December 30, 1998, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Bruce Bitter officiated with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Leona was born July 31, 1907, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late George and Sophia Dickert Holtz. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1925. On July 11, 1931, she married Paul R. Schley at First German Ev. Lutheran Church. Leona and Paul resided in Whitelaw and worked side by side at the Whitelaw office of the Maribel State Bank for many years. Mr. Schley preceded her in death on April 8, 1972. In 1979, she moved to Manitowoc. Leona was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilynn Behmer, Manitowoc; six grandchildren, David (Shirley) Brick Spokane, Wash., Barbara Brick Crystal Lake, Ill., Jeffrey Brick, Poplar Grove, Ill., Susan (David) Bergemann, Farrnington, Mich., Darrell (Kimberly) Behmer, Crystal Lake, Ill.; eleven great-grandchildren: one brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Rae Holtz, Charleston, S.C.; other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Eunice Brick; one brother, Victor Holtz; and one son-in-law, Ray Behmer.

Memorials would be appreciated to Frist German Ev. Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
