George was the third of six children. In 1925 he graduated from the Pennsylvania State College at University Park, Pennsylvania. While there he designed the cover for La Vie, the Penn State yearbook.
George was an architect. In 1930 he co-authored the book Mexican Houses; a Book of Photographs and Measured Drawings, which was published by the Architectural Book Publishing Company. He was in practice with Joseph Finger, another prominent Houston architect, from 1944-1953. He later became a partner in the firm Rustay, Martin and Vale, and was the architect of the 25th Street shopping center in Houston, Texas.
He married Dorothy Dungan, and they raised four children: George Warren, Mary Elizabeth, Dorothy Ann, and George Allen.
