Josiah taught school and served as a minister for many years. He gave the dedicatory sermon and was pastor for a time of the first church built in Eaton, The Public Church. He met an untimely death by the accidental discharge from a gun.

JOSIAH CONGER labored for many years in Preble County, O. He was somewhat local in his labors, but was very useful in his day. He died many years ago, leaving an excellent family to perpetuate his name and principles.
