"Dr. Arthur Sterling Bailey, 61, of 219 Lexington Avenue, Lakewood, died Nov. 16 at the Paul Kimball Hospital, following a short illness. He was the son of the late Dr. Aenas S and Clara Sterling Bailey. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Embery Bailey; two children, Miriam C. and A. Sterling Bailey, both living at home; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ruth Massinger, of Paterson; and three brothers, J. Chalmer Bailey, Lakewood; Dr. A. Eugene Bailey, Glencoe, Ill, and Dr. John M. Bailey, Evanston, Ill.
Dr. Bailey was a veteran of World War I; a member of the Lakewood American Legion Post 166, serving as first lieutenant in the dental corps. He was a member of the American Dental Association; the New Jersey Dental Association; the Monmouth County Dental Association, and the Study Club of the Monmouth County Dental Association.
He was also a former member of the Lakewood Township Local Assistant Board; a member of the Lakewood First Methodist Church; a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club; a member of the Court Lakewood, Foresters of America; and a member of the Philorian Club of Lakewood.
He attended Lakewood public schools; Lafayette University, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental College. He was a member of the Alpha Chi Ro fraternity.
Funeral services were held yesterday from the DeRoche Funeral Home, Lakewood, the Rev. Malcolm L Willitts, pastor of the Lakewood First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood".
