Delcie Mae Adkins, age 79, of Greensboro, Indiana, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born September 19, 1929, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, the daughter of Noah and Mary Kathreen Keaton. She had worked in laundry at Henry County Hospital, in dietary at Hancock Regional Hospital, in dietary at Heritage House and at Brooks Canning in Mount Summit. She had attended North 14th Street Church of God, in New Castle. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and gardening and loved food preservation. She also enjoyed playing checkers and singing. Her little dog, Annie, brought much joy to her life.

Delcie is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Rufus Adkins, of Greensboro; five children, Barbara (husband, Donald, Sr.) Dalton, of Greensboro, Marvin (wife, Cindy) Adkins, of Knightstown, Larry (wife, Mary) Adkins, of Greensboro, Gary Adkins, of Monticello, Kentucky, and Marlena (husband, Dennis) Adkins, of Knightstown; a sister, Sylvia Denney, of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: a son, Danny Ray Adkins; a grandson, Christopher Adkins; a great-grandson, Charles Adkins; two brothers, Joe Keaton and Claude Ray Keaton; a sister, Lucille Adkins; and an infant sister, Lillian Keaton.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service’s Knightstown Chapel, with Pastor Elwood Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
