Anthony Justin "AJ" Flannery, age 18, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 19, 2006 at his residence.

He was born the beloved son of Lucille "Lucy" Flannery and James Brisson Jr. on January 23, 1988 in Milwaukee. He moved with his family to West Bend 8 years ago and was a recent graduate of West Bend West High School class of 2006. In high school AJ enjoyed woodworking in shop class. He also loved being on the high school wrestling team and playing basketball. AJ loved just about every sport there was. He was always watching ESPN to find out each teams latest scores and stats. AJ was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

He is survived by his parents, and his two loving brothers, Taylor Flannery and Alexander Grosenick. He will be truly missed by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Joy Flannery; and his paternal grandparents, James and Betty Brisson Sr. He is further survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and close friends. He will always be deeply missed and remembered in John Grosenick's heart. John was like a second father to AJ as well as a good friend and mentor.

A visitation in celebration of AJ's life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of AJ at the funeral home at 8:00 pm.

AJ passed away on Father's Day, 2006. On August 5, 2006, the autopsy came back and confirmed that he overdosed on heroin. James C. Russel was found with 13 bags of heroin weighing 1.32 grams intended to sell on September 6, 2006, and was arrested for selling a lethal amount to AJ. December 21, 2006, Russel was charged with homicide under the Len Bias law.
